19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hard surfaces

A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his first championship for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.

Medvedev, a former number one, has endured a torrid season, winning just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the US Open.

The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in particular - resulted in him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with long-time mentor his previous coach.

Currently working with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily improved in the past month - peaking in a tightly fought three-set triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks his initial title since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court from March of 2023.

The win also signifies he has secured 21 victories at 21 different events.

"For the first time I'm at a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, including in Halle in the past months.

His counter-punching approach and regular outbursts on the playing surface had prompted observers to wonder if his skill to perform at the top level was concluded.

However the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and perform positively, supported by an improved serve.

The champion came back from a deficit in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, securing 4 of the concluding five games to go ahead.

The competitors swapped breaks in the following set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden tour title, gained dominance to force a third set.

The opponent saved four early-game chances in a tight deciding set before Medvedev won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Suitably, he clinched the win with a shot at the net, with his opponent unable to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
